Geographic Location: Jerusalem
Description:Restoration of Jewish life to all quarters of the Old City, educating scholars and laymen to love the State of Israel and Jerusalem and to take part in all aspects of civil life while living a life of holiness in the difficult conditions of the Old City. Our institutions aspire to bind the Jewish people and the entire world to Jerusalem with bonds of love, scholarship, first hand experience, self sacrifice and faith.
Programs:1. Yeshiva and Advanced Kollel with 130 students (Zionist oriented - all serve in the IDF).
2. Pre-military Academy - over 60 students study Law and Ethics for one year before joining combat units in the IDF, imbuing themselves with faith and love of the State.
3. Research Institute (including publishing) - topics relate to problems of religion and state, war and ethics, and other modern-day religious topics.
4. Emergency hot-line for soldiers with religious/halachic questions - 24 hours a day.
5. Field School - seminars, tours, discussion groups, Western Wall Tunnel tours.
Accomplishments:
  • 1. Education - graduates fill important posts as Rabbis, educators, army officers etc.; Heads of State and the IDF consult with us.
  • 2. Community development - our study halls, dormitories, homes and offices form a network of Jewish life in all quarters of the Old City; Military - our graduates regularly receive Certificates for Excellence in the IDF; we act as lobby for observant soldiers; military leaders consult us on various issues.
Future Objectives:
  • 1. Strengthening the Jewish presence in the Old City by increasing enrollment and study in our institutions.
  • 2. Purchase and renovation of additional buildings, especially those with a Jewish history.
  • 3. Getting more and more tourists - Jewish and gentile - to experience "Jewish Jerusalem" with us.
Effectiveness:The number of students rises each year; many purchase and renovation projects have been completed; we are reaching out to more and more visitors from around the world.

Biography of
the Main Person:
Considered to be the foremost heir to the legacy of Rabbi Kook, Rabbi Aviner has hundreds of publications to his credit on a wide range of topics - marital happiness, military ethics, educational psychology, etc. His lectures - in person, on the radio, on the internet and on thousands of audio cassettes - reach a wide and diverse audience. His advice is sought by all - from troubled youths and young couples to the Heads of State and the security establishment.
