This book is dedicated to my parents Sarah and Elchanan (Henry) of blessed memory, who taught me the difference between good intentions and good deeds and who would have been very proud of the tribe they created; to my wife, my best friend and colleague, Rivka (Schnerb) Jaffe, who is the kindest person and wisest social worker I have ever known; to my children Uri, Yael, Naomi, and Ruthi, my loyal fans and my greatest comfort. And to all my wonderful grandchildren, who have blessed my life with their presence and give it continuity and unending pleasure; to my sister Alice and her husband Morris (Moe) Zipkin; my brother Yitzchak and his good wife Miriam; my brothers Alvin and his wife Arlene, and Jack and his wife Minda; and to all their children and grandchildren in Israel and in the Diaspora. I came to Israel from America in 1960, just out of college, single, plenty of hair on my head, optimistic and enthusiastic about the future. Forty-one years later I am blessed with a wonderful, loving, caring large family that exceeds my wildest hopes and dreams. The optimism and enthusiasm too have increased greatly. The only thing missing is the hair - but I do have pictures.
